Thanks for the reminder about “The Unbearable Weight…” as I haven’t seen it yet.

I liked “Lockwood and Co.” a lot for the reasons you mentioned, plus it’s pretty swashbuckly (which I love)–not just ’cause of the swords but ’cause of the witty comebacks. I think maybe witty comebacks to blowhards is probably a swashbuckler defining characteristic.

I’m also a “Bee and Puppycat” fan. I think some of the same creative team did work on “Adventure Time.”

Also like “Pokerface.” Some people have compared it to Columbo, and that seems accurate. Just finished the second season of “Abbot Elementary” and still watching “Mob Psycho” and “Spy X Family.”

Oh–what Tony said about queer representation reminded me to ask if either of you have watched “Andor.” The queer representation there seems to be seamlessy worked into the world. It’s an unremarkable feature of some of the characters.

I was heartened by what Tony said about his teen neighbor. There was a headline in the Boston Globe this week that sort of summarizes how I think a lot of people I know are feeling: “Trans and nonbinary lawmakers made history in 2022. They’re already having to defend their very existence.” I feel pretty scared on behalf of friends/relatives so it was nice to hear something more hopeful.

Just finished the YouTube original run of Bee & Puppycat. I’m shook. I’ll tackle the Netflix version soon, though.

I watched the first Poker Face, and enjoyed it. But not enough to pay money to Peacock. πŸ™‚

I’ve heard absolutely amazing things about Andor, and frankly am shocked (and appalled?) that William hasn’t watched it. It *almost* made me want to… but I haven’t, and doubt I will.

I’m watching Pokerface on the free Peacock service.

Really? That’s weird. I just went to double check, in case something changed, but on my Peacock, it only offers me the first episode for free. To watch any of the other five episodes, it insists I switch to “Peacock Prime,” of which the cheapest plan they offer me is 5 bucks a month.

Oh, also started watching “Willow.” Boorman is my favorite character. πŸ™‚ I think they could have been a little less obvious with his name though. I’m hoping we get some Brownie characters as well.

Just was informed that the audio version of the podcast wasn’t up yet! Fixed now. πŸ™‚

I forgot whether it was on this episode that Tony was wondering about why he was getting the recommendation to watch the video for “Weapon of Choice,” but I was going to say the recommendation is probably triggered by having watched the Daniel Craig video as that video is an homage to the Weapon of Choice one. So that might give you a sense of whether you’d want to watch it or not.

It’s one of my favorites. For one thing, it strongly reminds me of my Dad. In his later years, my father was a salesman, and I can absolutely picture him in a hotel just like Walken at the beginning. And he even looks a bit like my Dad.

My father loved to dance. One of his many odd jobs was teaching dancing one summer at one of the Arthur Murray dance schools. He taught me to do several, his favorite being the jitterbug. (My Dad owned a zoot suit at some point.) Unfortunately, he’s the only person that I’ve known that liked to dance in that way so after he died, I hadn’t gotten to dance in that more formal style with anyone, except one night about five years ago, when a bunch of the taiko folks went to a salsa club.

I had a few different opportunities, mostly through school, to learn jitterbug and swing dancing overall. For a while, I was pretty darned good at it, if I do say so myself. πŸ™‚
