I found that conversation really interesting, but sorry it was painful or frustrating at times.

I’ve been thinking about lots of ways to describe what I thought Will was talking about, but I’m going to try to restrict myself to a brief stab at it. I also wanted to say that if sometimes I am able to add some understanding to the conversations the two of you have, its in part because I’m in the initial position of listener.

So to me Will is describing awareness of being in the world. That kind of awareness is, I think, a sort of fundamental connection–an awareness of shared being-ness. But as soon as one starts to try to label or define it, you are cutting the connection because you’re dividing into self/subject and other/named object.

Where I kind of don’t understand what Will is describing (or perhaps disagree with him) is in further describing the awareness of being as a causal (and therefore temporal) agent as creator.

Relatedly, I think, my therapist likes to use the phrase “anger (or whatever emotion arose here” rather than something like “You made me angry” or even “I got angry.” I find the phrasing pretty goofy to be honest, but still helpful.

In a general sense, your explanation matches the tenuous understanding I think I was getting at the end of our online conversation. We also talked for about an hour afterwards, some of that on the same topic, so it maybe got me to a closer understanding… at least to the degree of maybe knowing what I don’t know?
