The Dark Knight, Batman Begins was a prequel that happened to come out first.
I hated Pitch Black so bad I didn’t even see any of the other Riddick movies.
I can’t believe that we didn’t even bring up The Dark Knight. But if we had, I’d have said that I liked Batman Begins enough that I experienced Dark Knight as a “fitting sequel” rather than as an “improvement on the original”. I did think that Dark Knight was great, I just also thought that Batman Begins was great. I know a few people who feel that way about A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back as well, though I tend to think that Empire was superior to its predecessor.
“From Russia with Love” is a better movie than “Dr. No.,” I think.
I was also trying to think of sequel movies further back. The main series I thought of was the Thin Man series, but I actually don’t think any of the sequels are as good as the original.
