Episode 417 : A Discotheque in Montreal

Humor, the 90s, gender, and cats. Pretty standard week for the show. Also, another layer of the onion that is William is peeled back. Enjoy!

  1. Beth says:

William, this discotheque thing does not sound like you at all. I’m not saying you didn’t go, but I’m with Tony, this sounds unlike you. It does not become any more William-like if the city changes from Montreal, to Quebec City or Toronto. Equally unlikely*.

*Slightly more likely that this happened in Montreal or Quebec City, I recall my French teacher/book talking about discotheques often, so I think it’s more likely to have occurred in a French speaking city.

    • William says:

Well, it was just one of those things, I guess. I mean, I had no idea what a discotheque even was, so perhaps that helped me not resist the idea of going. I don’t recall the experience being particularly unpleasant or anything. But I was probably oblivious to most things going on there. Both sexes in the bathrooms was certainly odd at first, but the stalls were private and it didn’t seem like a bad actor was going to get by with anything in there, so it seemed fine. That said, I didn’t *use* the bathroom or otherwise spend a good deal of time in there. Which is to say, I continued to feel odd about it, personally, and avoid it, but I didn’t conclude that my odd feeling actually made the thing odd. If that makes sense.
