Episode 650 : Shut Up and Take My Data

YouTube link here. No kitties. 🙁

Part 1 of 2. This week is a lot of TV. We’ve seen a lot, and we want to talk about it. Some good recommendations. We don’t get to an email, because we decided to save it for next week. Enjoy!

I haven’t seen Season 2 of Good Omens yet, but will soon. For David Tennant/Michael Sheen fans, I recommend “Staged.” They started doing it during Covid, and the premise is that they are prepping for an Ionesco play on Zoom (that is not really what is going on). They recently did a take off on Staged for Comic Relief in which they play Shakespeare and Marlowe–on Zoom because the theatres are shut down during the plague: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQMSBEesAt0.

One thing I’m watching right now that I really like is the second season of Strange New Worlds.

What Will said about DC and liking the stories even if he agrees with some of the criticism ’cause he’s attached to the characters: I sort of have the opposite reaction. If I’m attached to the characters, I really don’t like it if they aren’t done well. Most recent case in point–the live-action Cowboy Bebop show on Netflix.

Zack Snyder–I unite with Tony in a dislike of anything he’s ever done. Around our house he is known as the fascist auteur.

I’ve read all the books by Tony Hillerman and then I picked up a number of the sequels written by his daughter. They are not as good, though not terrible. They have the same case of characters, but to me the characters don’t really seem the same either.

Your sample question, made me wonder if I had forgotten about one of the questions I sent in….

We finished Good Omens 2 last night. I have… things to say. But the short version is that I enjoyed it immensely, and then the very end upset for some obvious and non-obvious reasons. But overall, HIGHLY recommend.

I’ve heard Strange New Worlds kicks ass. I’m inching closer to actually getting Paramount+. We’ll see.

The sample question was a thing I was pondering the other day, at random. I’m thining of making a fake account to write in, because in moments like that, I’m always thinking, “Why can’t a listener send in a question like that, so we can discuss it.” Which I’m not realizing means I don’t feel like I can discuss things with William unless someone on the internet asks us to? Hrm….
