Sex & Death — they are linked in horror and also in detective fiction.
Both sex and death focus on the human body. If there was no mortality of the body, there would be no need for the reproductive body. Feminist theory has often talked about hatred of women being tied to women being represented as sex, and sex reminding us of why sex is needed. (Eve’s story would be an early version of this connection which is still playing out today.)
I remember a thing about the moment of sexual climax being the moment that you’re truly aware of yourself, including your own mortality… and that it’s why mundane thoughts rush back so quickly into your mind afterwards…

I could get behind this as a premise.

Yes, the Washington Redskins dropped the Redskins part of their name a few years ago and were going as the “Washington Football Team” (WFT) then they recently (spring 2022?) announced they were branding themselves as the Commanders – a nod to Commander Washington and also famous commanders in the armed services throughout US history.
They kept their burgundy and gold colors though. There are now 4 factions of people 1) people who liked the Redskins name and wanted to keep it because of tradition/history 2) people who like the new Commanders name (haven’t met any of those people yet, but I and Jim MacGregor assume they exist) 3) people who liked “Washington Football Team” and saw no need to change to a “real” name. 4) people who don’t care a fig about it. I fall into the 3rd category. I would like the Commanders name better if their colors were red/white/blue like the other DC sports teams. The Commanders in burgundy and gold doesn’t feel very Washingtonian. (though, neither did WFT with those colors. The burgundy as the dominant color still makes me think of REDskin, so it doesn’t feel like a full rebrand to me.
Mary Poppins – the S isn’t pluralizing, it’s part of her name. But if you were removing the s, I think Mary Poppin’ fits into the fart/sex category.
I don’t think you’re sunsetting more this week than any other since episode ~15.
I’m definitely category 4 on the Washington thing. I refuse to relinquish any of my figs!
