Episode 597 : Challenge Accepted

YouTube link is here. Much kitty sightings!

This week, Tony’s gears get nostalgic. And Tony talks a lot about TV show spinoffs. Honestly, Tony just talks a lot. But he is punished for his hubris, when a simple email irrevocably shatters his sense of identity. Thanks, Jas. Enjoy!

The device Tony is considering Sounds like a trivection oven from 30 Rock. Also I thought Pastafarianism was also atheism with extra steps. But I get that it’s bad faith mocking.

Tony, what you are describing doesn’t make you a narcissist (I don’t think). After all, whether it’s me doing the talking in my head, or “someone else”–it’s all basically me talking to myself.

When I’m doing most or all of the talking, it’s usually to a version of someone in my head who I’m afraid is going to do some kind of harm (to me, to others, to themselves). I think its a response to bullying. I was doing a lot of that kind of talking to people I don’t even know during the past several years because of what’s been going on politically.

When someone else is talking to me in my head, it’s almost universally someone giving me good advice. Something Will said to me a week or so ago kept coming up as a good nudge toward seeing something from an alternative and helpful perspective.

That’s very kind of you to say, Jas. And it would mean a lot… if I weren’t pretty sure you’re just a dream I’m having.
