Episode 576 : Clinical Sociology

Here’s the YouTube link. The hood is back!

This week, the title of the episode and this reference to sociotherapy right here only exist to screw with the SEO. We haven’t exactly got a great energy this week, and mostly talk about TV and movies. Tony finally saw Spiderman, so there you go. It’s probably because we’re so overcome that this could be the end of the podcast? Or maybe we’re both just a bit ill. Enjoy!

  1. Azuretalon says:

I understand Trish, I am the same way about not taking medicine unless strictly necessary. My wife is the other extreme like Tony.

I have lived in California and Arizona, but I was too little to remember I really only remember living in or visiting Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennesse, and Louisiana. And I have passed by car through everything between Illinois/Arkansas and California/Arizona but again… no clue.

  2. Azuretalon says:

And I am a fan of both Batman and Spiderman, but not for their self-imposed martyrdom, but I do think the angst of both characters is part of the interest in both. Now The Punisher I am a fan for his self-imposed Martyrdom, not just for his hyper-macho gun violence gimmick. I mean I understand the catharsis of him ending people who are comic book irredeemably bad. I also love that in-universe he rejects those fans of his and even pulled a skull sticker off a cop car and chewed the cop out that he’s not a role model and he should look to Captain America for inspiration instead.

    • themagicaltalkinghat says:

Yeah, maybe it’s the angst. Maybe I’m just not into the angst.

Or, as the universe is slowly trying to tell me… maybe I’m not into superheroes? Which would be a shame, but maybe it’s true.

  3. Beth says:

The voice William is doing at the beginning is the “Hello Everyone” voice that Tony always does. Tony – do you not realize you do a voice there?

There’s a Ray Charles song about states?

I do not count airports. I view them as an embassy, where they don’t count as much of anything. You have to leave the airport and breathe the real local air; even better if you DO something in that state, but doing something isn’t strictly required.

Tony, how the heck did you get to DC from Iowa City that involved going through Kentucky?!

    • themagicaltalkinghat says:

I *do* know I do a voice. I just didn’t think William was doing the SAME voice. šŸ™‚

Ray Charles wrote a song called “Fifty Nifty United States,” that was popular amongst many school choirs. It doesn’t sound like a Ray Charles song, at all.

Kentucky was going from Iowa City to Virginia.

  4. Maggie says:

The muppet voice bit made me laugh. šŸ˜‚

Soooo, could you offer any advice on how to confront my friend on his bad habit of always interrupting me?

    • themagicaltalkinghat says:

You know, I think I can! At least, I’ve had a similar experience recently, and can tell you what I did.

I have a friend, and we both interrupt each other a lot. It’s very annoying. I don’t think it’s something easily fixed within our social group, because of other factors.

But we recently made a deal for when we’re one on one. We have a hand signal (just holding up our index finger) that means “I’m not finished making my point yet, please let me finish.”

So far… okay, so far, we haven’t had occasion to be able to use it yet. But it sounds good, doesn’t it? šŸ˜€
