Tony’s got major news, and a crappy camera. A lot of discussion of representation. And… that’s mostly it. But it’s better than it sounds, honestly. Enjoy!

Oh boy! My first time commenting again and Tony is bitching about drive threw etiquette!
There’s VIDEO now?
Oh that sucks. I’m sorry to hear about your job.
Oh yeah. I got one of those last year when I was let go from a company.
There IS video now. The magic of Zoom! 🙂
Can confirm. Toney IS solidly the bad guy.
TF is up with all these typos? Sorry.
I like the fact that it suggests that Tony is Toney. 🙂
Welcome backs!
No. The best thing to mix into ramen is an egg. I LOVE to poach an egg in my ramen.
Tony knows what’s up with how to prepare ramen noodles.
Bloodsparrow’s back. And all’s right with the world.
🙂
Wooo!
Agreed. Woo, indeed. 😉
So sorry to hear about your job, Tony!
I’m hoping my school manages to stay afloat. They recently decided they can’t handle contributions to our retirement for this year so that’s the first cost-cutting measure.
I really liked that documentary. It emphasized the importance of representation so well. And wow, that DW Griffith stuff was trippy and horrendous.
I liked the section on Bugs Bunny. 🙂
The Bugs Bunny section spoke to me in a very real way.
I’m also sorry to hear about your job Tony. We have a ton of people on furlough, and I’m lucky to not be one of them. But, like Jas, we aren’t getting retirement matching anymore. For us, it’s until at least December.
Poor Man’s Thai Peanut Sauce was exactly what I was going for. There is a place locally called Fat Sacks (https://www.facebook.com/fatsacksqc/) that does a ‘Danger Noodle’ dish that kind of gave me the idea to combine ramen and Thai peanut.
William’s thought about butter was also a great idea, and on that I never considered. Buttered Noodles was not something I ever had growing up and hadn’t considered until a recent Binging with Babish video.

I tried it last night by pouring off all but a very small amount of the water; added 2 tbsp of butter and a glob of minced garlic. VERY nice hack.
Also, your discussion of representation gave me some great thoughts/questions but I think instead of posting them here I will go ahead and submit them to the hat and let it decided when the time is right to talk about it.
Good thinking! Our answers on the air are way more fun then our answers on here! 😉
Tony, sorry about your job. I’m behind in listening, but am working on getting caught up. Hope to find out you’re settling in to your next phase of life nicely.
Drive-Thru Etiquette: I tend to avoid drive-thru lanes as much as possible; so I can’t really comment about this. Also, if it matters at all I still drive my ’96 Honda that I had way back when we were all still working together. Mind you I don’t drive it much, but I still have it.
Tony: Sorry to hear that your job was eliminated. Hopefully, you got things sorted out by now. Nice that you threw in a shoutout to your podcast in your final email to your old company.
Foundation trailer: I really only remember seeing the trailer, thinking it was pretty, and that maybe I should reread the books again. I’ve not done that reread yet, but y’all are getting me much more interested in doing so.
Ramen isn’t something we make at home and when I order ramen at a restaurant; I eat it as is. I do sometimes look at instant ramen packets, but then I check the nutrition label and see the amount of sodium in it and put it back on the shelf. I’ve already got high blood pressure; I don’t need to make it worse by eating stuff like that.
Adding refried beans to ramen, sounds like an American take on eating nattō with ramen.
