  1. Sue Klaus says:

    No ketchup.

  2. Beth says:

Chicago style hotdogs include a boiled hotdog on a steamed poppyseed bun topped with yellow mustard, sweet green pickle relish, onion (usually diced), half rounds of tomato slices (some recipes call for tomato wedges), pickle spear, sport peppers and celery salt. It’s basically an entire meal on a bun, but is really hard to eat.

I’m probably a traitor to my Chicago area roots, but I’m lately liking DC “Half Smokes” which are described by wikipedia as “Similar to a hot dog, but usually larger, spicier, and with more coarsely-ground meat, the sausage is often half-pork and half-beef, smoked, and served with herbs, onion, and chili sauce.” The ones I’ve had have mustard under the onion and chili sauce instead of herbs, and a dusting of shredded cheddar cheese on top.

I prefer deep dish pizza, Italian Beef sandwiches, Frango* mints for my Chicago foods. *I don’t think Frango mints are still made in Illinois, but they’re still delicious and are still billed as a Chicago food.

Those half-smokes sound really tasty! I want to try them.

Funny story… growing up, my mom made this frozen sort of chocolate mousse dessert, served in individual cups (like in a muffin tray), and called them “Frangos.”

It wasn’t until many years later, moving to the Midwest and marrying Trish, that I learned about Frango mints, and went to Marshall Fields and all that.

Yeah, I’m not sure they’re made in Illinois anymore, since Marshall Fields has turned into… what, a Macy’s or something? I don’t remember for sure, but the old place it gone.

William in the streets and Tony in the sheets? I’ve got no good response to that.

Tony’s book: I hope it got edited ok. I wouldn’t mind giving it a read but I’m not much of an editor.

Blade Runner 2049: I liked it, but it’s not something I’d recommend to most people. Nudity in films doesn’t normally bother me but this did, not sure why. I don’t know if you heard about it, but they also created some film shorts (Blade Runner 2049 – The Years Between) to cover what happens between the two Blade Runner films. So far I’ve only seen Blade Runner Black Out 2022 (anime short directed by Shinichiro Watanabe). I’m rather looking forward to a collector’s set that will hopefully have the restored original, the shorts and the new movie. I guess what I’m saying; is they made 2049 for me! 😀

    American Horror Story: No interest.

Killjoys: *shrug* We watched some of the first season and it was ok to watch, but we liked Dark Matter better.

Star Trek Discovery: I’m with William.

Cutting the Cord: Dig that a while ago, but we only had a minimal tv package; so we didn’t save that much (compared to some people).

Hotdog/Ketchup: If we’re talking a single hotdog topping; then I’d prefer cheese. If we’re allowing multiple toppings; then I’d go for the Chicago style (minus the peppers). Yum. Generally, ketchup is reserved for covering up the taste of foods I don’t like but don’t have time to abandon for something better.

Why an AI?: Because there are so very many tasks that humans just suck at. Generally these are repetitive, dull tasks that still requires some judgement (i.e. long haul driving, security, manufacturing, etc.). Could some of these be done with just fancy algorithms? Probably, but how complex does your fancy algorithm need to be to start being considered an AI?
