Episode 287 : Small Sample Size

A lot of kitty action tonight! Also, a lot of talk about writing. I feel like that’s only going to get worse. Then some insights into drinking, talking, racial epithets, and a terrible, terrible movie. Enjoy!

QUESTIONS:

I recently had a drink off of a “designated driver” menu which was really good called a “honey smash.” It was muddled lemons, mint, and honey with mostly water and a dash of bitters. Bitters strictly speaking is alcoholic, but I guess because it’s just a dash they consider it non-alcoholic.

I’m not sure what makes them different, but I did find out recently that I really prefer dry London gin to American gin. Tony and I must have exact opposite tastes in liquor because I hate Southern Comfort, don’t really like Rum drinks, and like Gin.

I do sometimes have to talk about what “niggardly” means in class because it comes up in Shakespeare. I often feel that people are unconvinced about the real meaning.

“Wer-Bears”–there’s also one in the Russian “Watch” series of books and movies. I guess Bears are a bigger part of their mythos than wolves?

My question about the Teenage Placenta movie is, why was the Placenta gendered?

Oh, yes, and forgot to thank Will for risking his life every Thursday to bring us this podcast. Ah, the dedication….

In this week’s intro, are you the hat’s “Emerald” servants or “Emeril’d” servants ?
