Episode 275 : Babies are Dumb

I’ll be honest. I’m not even sure how the hour went by. We talked the whole time, but I’m not even sure what about. I think TV shows were in there. And a lot of cat stuff. And two questions, so that’s something, right? Enjoy!

QUESTIONS:

*Dear Tony & William. Just wanted to let you know that I’m moving to Washington, D.C. I will keep listening to the podcast. –Beth

****Dear hatless ones and grand headless one. All Lexus drivers seem to be assholes. You think that’s true? –Azuretalon

When you guys were talking about the shooting in Orlando, I thought you said the motive was clear and that it was religious extremism/terrorism? Have you also read the reports that several people reported that this was not the first time that Mateen had been to the club and that there were gay dating aps on his phone, and that one man reported having been contacted by him through the ap? That info seemed to make it much more a psychological motivation than an ideological one to me. And yes, he did affiliate himself with ISIS but also with Al Quaeda and Hezbollah–so clearly he had no idea of the ideology of those groups. It seemed much more like some more than usually warped version of self-loathing that used those groups not for some ideological or terrorist purpose but because the killer was trying to repudiate something about himself and prove himself good or pure.

    I am doing better

    I drive a Lexus

Yay! Bloodsparrow is alive and… better! 🙂

Also, though, apparently an asshole. Right Blue Claw? 😉

  3. Beth says:

Tony, thanks for reminding me to watch the Samantha Bee monologue, I paused the podcast to watch. I thought your analysis was spot on.

I moved to Washington on June 1, 2016, so you were pretty timely in the reporting (unlike my listening habits).

I think the seeming appearance to Azuretalon of Lexus drivers are assholes is due to confirmation bias, which it seemed to me that Tony did a pretty good job of explaining.

  4. Craig says:

Yes I’m still listening! Just horribly behind on podcasts in general and doing my best to catch up during my commute.

  5. Mark says:

Ecuadorian servants? *shrug* Not too shabby.

Tony talking to cats: The comments you were just making to your cats were much funnier when I started imaging you were talking to William and the Producer. 😀

    Samantha Bee: Agreed.

Sorry to hear Tony’s book wasn’t going well. William’s pulp story sounds interesting.

Can’t answer the phone ‘cuz it’s a podcast: Was that Tony’s Rick impersonation?

Blacklist: I recall seeing some of the first season and found it vaguely interesting but it wasn’t enough to get me to keep watching it (mostly for James Spader).

    Insanely late: Yup, sorry.
