Episode 225 : Stupid Eyes

This is a very political episode. But it’s not our fault! You asked for it. You don’t like it, write in more non-political stuff. Enjoy!

People tend to vote for President based on domestic policy–on social issues and on the economy. But you’re right, Presidents actually can’t do much in that arena. Where they actually have some power is in foreign policy. And that’s why I’m not a Clinton supporter. Obama’s foreign policy has primarily been pragmatic (which is why conservatives label him a coward or a conciliator). In foreign policy, Clinton is an ideologue, and her ideology is pretty close to the neo-cons. Can you imagine what that will be like with Putin behaving the way he is? And the balancing act in the mid-East–where Clinton, rather than acting as a brake on Netanyahu would encourage the right wing in Israel? Of course, if it’s a choice between her and a Republican there’s not going to be much difference in foreign policy, unless it’s some real nut-case like Cruz, but I don’t think so.

I know you didn’t record this episode this week, but still you didn’t mention Bernie Sanders in the democratic race. Currently polling at 33% in Iowa (compared to Clinton’s 52%), at a statistical tie in NH, and just got a crowd of 10,000 in Madison.

Trump’s surge to #2 in the GOP after making xenophobic statements about immigration shows why Marco Rubio doesn’t stand a chance in the GOP primaries.

Hey, if we’re testing leadership skills, I say the best contest would be sheepdog trials.

Actually, there were nearly 800 years between Constantine and the first Inquisition, I think. Right?

  5. William says:

    Lindal… not Jindal… that’s hilarious. 🙂

I don’t even know where “Lindal” came from.

  6. Mark says:

Definitely the dullest discussion of sin I’ve ever listened to.

House on the Rock: I’ve been there a couple of times. It’s kind of amazing for a rather short amount of time. Though the Infinity Room, where you can look way down on trees, is pretty amazing.

Presidential candidates: Umm, no. I refuse to get into these discussions until closer to the election; as this nonsense goes on all too long as it is.

Single competition for US President: Cat herding.
