It’s the final episode of 2012! We reminisce on the lack of apocalypse, and discuss all the cool swag Tony got for the holidays. Also, some questions from the Hat.
Happy New Year, Hatlings!
QUESTIONS:
Dear Hatlets, Doctor Who or Torchwood? — Sir Guido
What question would you most like to ask the listeners? — Anon

Costumes: I totally think William should play Ming the Merciless, though it might require auWilliam for it not to be completely silly. Not that there’s anything wrong with William being completely silly.
Being sick at Xmas: I feel your pain William, I too was ill over the holiday.
Kindle: Wow, that’s a seriously kick-ass prize. Way to go!
I found Sherlock to a be very enjoyable to watch, so hearing you two say you had problems with the show (without explaining them) is mildly irritating. Would you care to explain the problems you had with it further? Also while Benedict is listed in the credits for the Hobbit and Smaug does make a brief appearance; it’s not much of a performance. I look forward to eventually seeing how he does as Smaug but I currently wonder if we’ll have to wait till the 3rd Hobbit movie to get to see it. Lastly, it’s Martin not Timothy Freeman.
Leverage: WTF? They canceled it? Crap.
Firefly: Excellent.
Farscape: Blargh, that show was crap; mostly due to the male lead (something about that actor just pisses me off and I end up hating him in everything I’ve watched him do).
Podcasting Equipment: Don’t you really want at least 3 mics and headphones: one for Tony, one for William, & one for a special guest (e.g. the Producer)?
Dr. Who: No question, though I did get sucked into watching Torchwood, right from the beginning. It was really a train wreck that I just couldn’t pull myself away from.
Marketing: Sorry guys, I don’t attempt to convert the general populace into Hard Hats; and I don’t have any ideas on how I’d do so. Also I’m not sure nudity would really work, but if you insist on trying it again you might need to switch to a video podcast or at least include photos.
Better podcasts? Yes there are better podcasts out there, but better podcasts that do exactly what you guys do? Nope.
Coooooo Oh coo coo coo coocoocoo!
94: I get it!
Sherlock – I did not enjoy most of the second season. Every “remake” totally misses the point of Irene Adler. Moffett is a great writer, but it doesn’t surprise me that he’s written a crap female character.
…. isn’t Cumberbatch also playing The Necromancer in The Hobbit?
I have no idea about Podcasting Equipment.
Ask Stu.
If it were me, I would budget the money and spend it on hosting costs.
Diaspora FATE – I have a copy. I played like three sessions before the group fizzled. It was fun. Basically it’s Traveler for FATE.
Apocalypse – As you said Tony, there’s now no reason to be interested in the Myan’s anymore… Maybe THAT’S what they were predicting!
“….And this will be the point in time when people will stop being interested in us.”
Also I just realized I wrote “Mayans” as a possessive and spelled wrong… But nobody cares anymore because they were wrong about the end of the world.
What I got for Christmas.
by Bloodsparrow
– A FitBit (Which is basically a pedometer, but a really nice one.)
– Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Collector’s Calendar
– New Bedding
– Soup Bowls with travel lids
– A Kayak rack for my car.
For myself I got the Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote.
Torchwood:
Don’t get me started. Just don’t.
I wanted to like it so much. It takes place in Wales! It was sex positive! It had John Barrowman!
It… I… ugh.
Although I do have a funny story about a personal connection I have to a particular episode of Torchwood (“Meat”). Which I will have to tell you at some point.
Equipment? Check out Jeffrey P Fisher, he has great recommendations for audio setups (my voice-over equipment for instance).
EP 100 – SKYPE, anyone?
Dr Who. I actually sprang for a sonic screwdriver (11), love it but completely scandalized folks at work with it.
Tony, as it happens, the Tom Hanks episode was next in my Nerdist listening, so I got to hear it after this episode. It was, as you promised, an excellent episode. So good, I may even listen again. Thanks Tony!
You listen to Nerdist? I didn’t know that. That’s cool!
