So William commented that everyone who listens knows how ren fairies or the like goes and I have to say that from a British perspective these shows always sound really weird. The concept doesn’t really exist here, we don’t have these pseudo historical entertainment shows and reenactment tends to be much more historically focused. As for ren faires what the hell are they meant to be? As far as I can tell they’re a weird mix of vibes, fairy tales and a mashup of hundreds of years of history that was taught to people using Saturday morning kids TV. It’s just so American.
