Episode 262 : East German Judge

Five years, people! We’ve done it! Someone owes me a dollar. We talk about the holiday, and Fallout, and languages. Enjoy!

QUESTIONS:

Can you do the next 5 minutes of this segment in a language other than English?  –Stu

  1. Stuart says:

Happy anniversary! At least petrol/gas is cheaper than it was in 2011. Not sure Venezuela appreciates that, though.

PS4 owners! Go preorder No Man’s Sky. Literally the reason to own a PS4, I reckon. Oh and Day of the Tentacle Remastered, which comes out tomorrow.

The spoken Welsh in this episode was quite good 😉

Also, register the podcast on Google Play! I sent Tony the link.

  2. Mark says:

Copper Chainmail Bracelet: Pics or it didn’t happen! :p

    Congrats on the anniversary!

Happy Jacks: Tony’s stopped listening to them? Huh, I hadn’t realized that.

Eastern German Judge: I remember this, so it’s just another case of the William rule rearing it’s head again.

Scotch-Irish: I didn’t realize you too were of Scotch-Irish descent but I should have realized you came from heathens (non-Presbyterian) as well.

St. Patrick’s Day/Pinching/Green Wearing: I’m sure it got mentioned back at Applied, but times have changed. It’s too easy to be misconstrued as a form of harassment and would not be considered acceptable behavior.

Co-workers touching: Maybe it started with the culture of one of your co-workers and the other co-worker noticed and is thinking that’s normal American culture?

Fallout4: Sneak is ridiculously overpowered and I have great fun taking advantage of it. I’m not sure Outpost Zebra if shittier/smaller than Hangman’s Alley or not, but neither of them are any good.

Automatron DLC: I liked the idea of this but wasn’t a fan of the robots you can build. I did enjoy the quest.

Languages: English, and a few words/phrases in German (1 year in high school and 2 semesters in college), French (3 years in high school), & Japanese (a couple of days of survival Japanese in Tokyo and two weeks in Japan). I wanted to take German all four years of high school, but we moved after my first year in high school and German wasn’t available at my second high school. I started retaking German when I got to college, thinking I’d need 4 years for college, but my degree didn’t end up needing it and I didn’t like it well enough to keep going with it.
