  1. William says:

OK, first I have to say…

I think I have expressed in the past that my childhood heroes were Mel Blanc and Jim Henson. But at some point in my life I realized that I wasn’t using the term “hero” in the same way most people did. Regardless, I do still say that about Blanc and Henson sometimes. I’ve probably even said it on the podcast.

Also, I think Marion Ross plays SpongeBob’s grandmother, not mother.

  2. jas says:

I think I have a similar feeling about heroes to the one William was describing but not because my parents taught me that God was the only hero. With my parents, my Dad especially, it was more because he taught (and modeled) a generally irreverent attitude towards most things (which really, as a parent, is playing with fire).

I liked reading or watching movies about swashbucklers but I always knew their heroism was fictional. You could use them as a model–for style and for value–but no one was really like that.

I am blown away! blast from the past….Derrick.
