It’s the start of another two-parter, folks, and like always, Wiliam discusses Wonder Woman. We also tackle heated issues of breakfast food, and explain why computers suck now. And William, in a rare moment of backbone, stands up to Tony, with loud protestations! Enjoy!

The Joss Whedon Much Ado was really good.
I think there are good reasons to have super heroes model healthy, affirming romantic as well as friend relationships in cartoons. I think William makes a great point that this shouldn’t be something that ONLY concerns the female characters, but romantic relationships are an important part of human experience. Even if people are busy, very busy, they often still want to have close and/or intimate relationships. And modeling good (and demonstrating bad) ways to handle these sorts of pressures can be instructive and helpful without hitting people over the head with or moralizing about.
Agreed.
And, for the record, I like that the JL members interact with one another in a manner that models how men and women can get along and work together simply by treating each other like fellow human beings rather than specifically as “men” or “women”, however those roles are defined by the prevailing culture. In spite of my rather minor criticisms, the show does do an impressive job in transcending the gender garbage typically seen in modern media (and, unfortunately, especially in cartoons… and comics… and comics about cartoons).
(And, yes, I realize that three of the seven members aren’t human, but you know what I mean.) 🙂
Place of Love: Yeah, but that’s also the reason you’re the only podcast with as many restraining orders as you do.
138/168: Let’s do the Time Warp again! Also I will neither confirm or deny that I am a sinister power affecting William’s mind. Mwahahahahah!
Producer: Belated congratulations on having the gumption to survive yet another year!
Intellectual Superior: If Dan really was Tony’s intellectual superior; he wouldn’t need to ask about it. Also, Dan should totally be grateful to be adorable
Justice League (Animated Series): More female characters do eventually appear in the show.
Super Hero Romance: Probably because the show runners thought the viewers more likely to be interested in the romance plots would like Wonder Woman best, though I recall other characters in the series eventually have romantic subplots. These subplots tend to involve fellow teammates which helps to make them, at least in some ways, healthier relationships than Superman & Lois. Especially given so much of Superman & Lois being dependent on Superman always saving Lois.
Godzilla: I’ve heard from other friends (big Godzilla fans) that it’s a good Godzilla film, but a lousy movie.
Pacific Rim: I really don’t understand all the hate for Pacific Rim; this movie was totally cheesy fun. And I’m apparently not the only one who enjoyed it as “recently” del Toro was quoted as saying he’s been working on the script for the sequel.
Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing: I’ve heard that’s good and have it queued up but haven’t watched it yet.
Donuts vs. Bagels: William, you’re wrong; Tony’s right. Besides long johns are donuts and those aren’t shaped like bagels.
Web Browsers: IE? You sick puppies! I primarily use Chrome myself, Firefox some of the time, and only use IE when I must (usually at work).
