Episode 361 : Back by Popular Necessity

William is trapped in a snow storm, so we bring out Trish, the Producer, for another married people’s episode! We air our dirty laundry, complain about each other, talk about movies, and blood. There will be blood. Enjoy!

  1. Craig says:

Quick bit of biology: Universal recipient is AB+ which means your blood carries the A, B and RhD blood groups on them. Your body, therefore, does not produce antibodies against them and can receive blood that has them as well as blood that doesn’t (such as O-, the universal donor)

    RBC = red blood cell
Nucleated rbcs are young red blood cells that still have the nucleus, which is the part of the cell that contains DNA. As they mature they lose it so they can carry more oxygen / CO2. I’ve no idea what are good / bad levels for these but am assuming the test is a measure of how well your body is producing new blood.

  2. Mark says:

Pants: No pants and blankets when it’s cold can be very pleasing.

Shrimp crackers: No thanks, both to eating them and listening to Tony eat them.

    To infinity and plus 2!

    Hello cat!

Recording Tony at night: No, just no.

Stamps to another planet: I’m with Tony; I thought you were talking about postage stamps too.

Sexy folks writing in: *blush* Awww, shucks. You’re just saying that because it’s true… and I’m writing more questions as I get closer to being caught up. 😀

Wearing the hat: I always thought that would be a bad idea due to the magical nature of the hat and I’m most impressed that no harm befell the Producer.

Watching a random movie: This is why I keep my tablet near the couch. We occasionally do this sort of thing too but I have to be careful to keep an eye on my wife; so we don’t both just sit there ignoring a crappy movie while playing on our phones/tablets.

Troll Hunter: It’s just absurd but in an oddly compelling way.

    Hello Gus!

Side note: I’ve no memories of ever watching Private Benjamin but the cover art that pops-up when I google it looks really damn familiar. I wonder if I liked it so little that I totally blocked it out? *shrug* I’m not curious enough to track down a copy to try watching it now.

Youtube Videos: If you’re watching via a web-browser; you can click the gear icon in the player and increase the playback speed.

The Fall of the Pistachio Pedestal: ‘Twas a great tragedy, many tears were shed.

Being so goddamn old is better than being dead; so there’s that.

Film Scene: I wish this place was in CR, because I’m too lazy to regularly get down to IAC.

Legend: I remember it as being ok, but not particularly good. I much preferred Labyrinth. Though, I loved Tim Curry as the villain.

    LotR

I’m way more interested in the Queen being shot at then Tom Cruise leaving his wack-nut church. Also, I’m totally lost with all this pregnant talk.

Sikhism sounds pretty cool for an ism. With that said, I tend to fall into the Ferris camp on the topic of isms.

    Eh, fuckin’ unicorns man.

Donate blood: Nicely played Producer. 😀

Phlebotomy Skills: Generally yes, most of them do. However like Tony, I can attest to at least one tech who didn’t. Back when we did the blood drives at AppSys, I had a tech who missed the vein when putting the needle in and rather than pulling out and trying again, just tried digging around for it.

Laziness: Yup, I probably wouldn’t be donating myself if the local blood bank didn’t make regular trips to my employer.

Blood Type: I’m familiar with universal donors, which I believe are O+, but I don’t know that I’ve ever heard of universal receivers.

    Curling, enough said.
