  1. Beth says:

The first year my husband and I were married we spent Christmas apart. It seemed a little strange and the day itself we really missed each other but it hasn’t had a permanent negative effect on our relationship. My parents were going to visit my brother who was deployed to Korea. We were both invited to go with them. I really wanted to go, he didn’t want to go and didn’t want to spend the money. It wouldn’t have been weird for us to have decided that one of us would travel and the other wouldn’t except that the trip was over Christmas. So we decided we’d go for it. I had a very untraditional Christmas in Korea and he had a relatively normal Christmas with his nuclear family.

Also, my dad’s family comments every time we get together that none of us are on our phones. Every. Time.
