I don’t know why I can never remember these, but here’s a list (I think it’s complete) of the farm teams in Iowa:
Iowa Cubs — Chicago Cubs AAA farm team (AAA-players promote to majors)
Clinton LumberKings — Seattle Mariners A farm team (A-players promote to AA)
Cedar Rapids Kernels — Anaheim Angels A farm team
Burlington Bees — Oakland A’s A farm team
Quad Cities River Bandits — St. Louis Cardinals A farm team
Kernels signed with the Minnesota Twins a few years ago.
Also, during college, I was having a conversation with someone from Iowa and I said that the Iowa Cubs are the farm team for the Chicago Cubs and proceeded to get an earful about how they are baseball players and are not farmers from a very insulted Iowan. This went on for about 20 minutes and I had to pull in random strangers to demonstrate that indeed, the minor league teams is called a farm team, not that I was making some sort of slur against Iowans.
