A lot of catching up on this episode. It HAS been two weeks for us on this end, after all. And then a whole lot of talk about the Divine. But, most important, the Producer reads materials from a board game! Off mic! Live! Enjoy!

  1. The Producer says:

People, seriously! Tony was giving me the stink eye, so I shut up, but if you’re pagan or at all interested for any reason, you should totally go to the Parthenon in Nashville. It’s very nice! http://www.nashville.gov/Parks-and-Recreation/Parthenon.aspx

  2. Mark says:

    Princess Bride quotes FTW!

B&W: Isn’t making the film really attractive enough of a reason to make the film in B&W?

    Briar Rose: Tablesaws of Justice!

Delicious, Indian food was indeed delicious but would have been better if some of the dishes hadn’t been mixed up.

Fable: Weird, I also had it in my head that William had at least played the first of those games. Maybe the two of you just talked about it in an earlier episode that I’ve now totally mixed up the memories?

William’s Summer Job of Which We Do Not Speak: Yup, that’s a marvelous story which is both classic William and yet totally atypical for him.

Seven Wonders: <– Insert boob joke here — > I really want to make a wonderland joke here, but am restraining myself. On the bright side, I did break out laughing at work and had to share this bit of the podcast with a co-workers. Side note: Wikipedia has a nice article on this topic, Wonders of the World.

Side note: As bad as our lives might be at least we’re not the ones recording this nonsense. :p

Grand Canyon & Pike’s Peak (in IA): I’ve not been to either of these; but like William, I’ve been to the Bad Lands. And while I found them somewhat pretty, I didn’t feel all that impressed though I was probably around 10-12 at the time.

What does the fox say? The fox says nothing, but does sigh a lot.

    Dr. Enuf?

Animal Urine Soda: No that’s Mt. Dew.

Belief: My parents took me to church every Sunday when I was a kid and there were things about it I enjoyed. By the time I hit high school, I’d started to consider myself an atheist. Later when I was introduced to the idea of agnosticism and found that much more comfortable. I don’t recall any event in my life where I truly felt the presence of the divine; on the other hand, I’ve definitely had moments where I’ve felt a need to talk to a higher power. *shrug* Not really sure what else to say about this.

My Seven Wonders: These would likely be the seven most important people to me.

New Thor Movie: I’ve seen it and it was a lot of fun.

  3. Sue Klaus says:

    Seven wonders of this world.
    1. The Grand Canyon was so incredible, I thought I was on another planet.
    2. New Zealand. Gorgeous.
    3. The wide variety of animals.
    4. Earth from space.
    5. The magic and fierceness of weather.
    6. Human imagination.
    7. The aurora borealis.

  4. Beth says:

I agree, the job-of-which-we-do-not-speak story was one of the best moments in Hat history. It was indeed quintessential William, yet atypical William at the same time.

I’d like to visit the 7 wonders of the world, but so many lists exist of them, that it’s hard to clearly define just 7. I have been to the Coluseum, the leaning tower of Piza and the Brooklyn Bridge. I’m not sure if I would really classify any of those as a “wonder” though they are impressive. I was more impressed by the Sistine Chapel and really much of Vatican City. If you find yourself in Rome, you should definitely go. The Vatican is a fascinating architectural and historic place, even if you don’t agree with the Religion itself.
