Episode 50 : The Golden Episode

It’s a celebration! Our Golden Jubilee! Fifty episodes, and we’re not dead yet!  Not only that, but William has big news!  And, with the help of a listener question, William comes up with the best idea ever!   Also, the Producer made us a meme, in honor of last week’s episode:

For some reason the ebook (PDF) version of the book isn’t showing up in that link. Try this one if you’re interested in the electronic version:

I think getting funding for becoming a superhero was the reason kickstarter was created.

There’s another real-life vigilante super hero in Florida called “Master Legend”. He is WAY more crazy awesome (and by that I mean actually crazy) then the guy in Seattle, who sounds quite rational and actually seems to be going about it in a fairly sensible and reasoned way.

  3. Kiya Bee says:

Shhh, Tony, don’t tell them my real identity…all 20 or so listeners. 😉

I’m not very well-traveled, so it’s a tossup between Vancouver and Victoria B.C. as the most interesting place I’ve ever been. Never been to Mexico or Europe, not even farther east than Colorado. While it would be nice to visit faraway places, I don’t quite have the constitution to fly that far (A 2 hour flight to L.A. is anxiety-inducing) and I get homesick easily. So yeah, I’m a big wuss about leaving home, and it’s got to be by road, not air.

My home is Sith by 2/3 majority. Mr. Bee was Sith on Star Wars: Galaxies while it was still running and is a Sith on SWTOR. And like father, the littlest Bee chooses Sith in whatever Star Wars game he happens to play.

Tony: The phrase you were likely looking for to describe William’s writing style is accessible. Also, I can relate to disliking books due to not liking the characters (e.g. The Magicians by Lev Grossmen).

Gamicon was alright, I might have liked it better if the games I was interested had started sooner on Saturday (and/or not been scheduled for 4 hours). Also might have liked it better if I hadn’t started suffering from a sinus infection Saturday. And you bastard, you didn’t mention that I was there! :p

When was the last time before BSG you could say that an hour long sci-fi/drama tv series? As for the ending of BSG, I wasn’t a fan of it but I’m going to reserve my comments about it until Tony’s actually watched it.

I have totally agree with Tony in regards to Star Wars. Empire Strikes Back was totally the best of the 3 movies and people who don’t agree with that probably do need to get a good smack.

Nobody commented on your joke because nobody (except your mother-in-law thought it was funny).

The first Ghost Rider movie wasn’t bad; or rather if it was, then it was bad because the source material was bad. It was a fun movie; though I doubt I could ever honestly say it was a good movie. I’ve not seen the second movie, but I’ve heard that it’s bad/bad (vs fun/bad).

Catwoman was terrible and Tony was right again (what’s up with that?) in that even a leather-clad Halle Barry wasn’t even to save it.

Sorry my comments have been shorter, but I’ve been sick though I am on anti-biotics now and hopefully it will clear up this [BLEEP] sinus infection.

Kickstarter superhero? I can’t see myself donating to that cause and I have trouble figuring out what the rewards would be.

Sith, because Jedi don’t get Force Lightning.

That was the point, Mark! Nobody thought it was funny, except for the fact that I apparently screwed it up, by not knowing anything about farming. And *certain* folks can’t usually resist the urge to comment on my failure. 😉

      • Bloodsparrow says:

The joke is also about a guy who doesn’t know anything about farming. That being said, the banter between you and William about the joke was more funny then the joke could ever be no matter how well it was told.

Kinda like the whole funnel cake thing…

I’d totally read William’s books for an audio recording. I just don’t know if it would be worth a damn if I did.

Loved BSG, went into it expecting to be let down after all the hype from friends of mine… and was shockingly surprised at how close they were to how good it was.

Empire is teh win. ‘Nuff said.

I didn’t comment on your joke because I was embarassed enough to know you as it was without making it worse…

I would totally Kickstart a superhero if I got a hat or button that said “I helped make ‘The Great White Hope’ a reality.” Especially if GWH was a black dude, because that would be funny.

Sith or Jedi? Really I don’t care, but probably agree with Tony with the drunken ex Jedi type that just doesn’t give a damn anymore.
